Electroplating is a process that uses electrical current to reduce dissolved metal cations so that they form a coherent metal coaling on an electrode. Electroplating is primarily used to change the surface properties of an object. Example abraision and wear resistance, corrosion protection, aesthetic qualities etc.
Anodizing is an Electrolytic passivation process used to increase the thickness of natural oxide layer on the surface of metal parts. The process is called anodizing because the part to be treated forms the anode electrode of on electrical circuit. Anodizing increases corrosion resistance and wear resistance, and provide better adhession for paint primers and glues than does bore metal.
